An update on the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (S.O.N.G.S.).
A recent Surfline article, dated 9/5/2017, titled "Court Moves to Save Trestles From (Potential) Nuclear Destruction" details an announcement made Monday, August 28th, whereby "Southern California Edison agreed to appoint an expert panel and spend over $4 million to explore plans to move the nuclear waste away from the coast. A best-case scenario could result in moving the waste in five years."
We still have a long road ahead given "...nobody has accepted temporary storage and we still don’t have a permanent repository,” says Surfrider CEO Dr. Chad Nelsen, “We must continue to call on Congress to address the problem, they are the only ones who can solve it once and for all.”
